Periodic breast self-exam

30-39

40-49

Pap test and pelvic exam every 2-3 years
Periodic breast self-exam
Cancer-related checkup including thyroid, oral cavity, skin, lymph nodes and ovaries every 1-3 years

50-69

Screening mammogram and clinical breast exam each year

* Women at high risk for cancer because of family history, because of certain symptoms or signs, or because they are over the age of 70 should have a specialized surveillance program designed with the help of a doctor. For example, women who have had an abnormal Pap test or have not had routine Pap tests in the past may need more frequent screening, and women with a family history of breast or ovarian cancer may need more frequent breast screening.

Moffitt’s guidelines were adopted from those developed by the National Comprehensive Cancer Network and the American Cancer Society.
