Interventional Pain Services
Program Orientation/Overview
The Interventional Pain Service at H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute, in conjunction with the Pain & Palliative Care Service, offers a focused interdisciplinary team approach to the cancer patient with pain. We offer minimally invasive procedures that deliver effective, potent analgesia in the treatment of chronic and acute pain. Our goal is to relieve or reduce pain, improve function, minimize the need for narcotics and improve each patient’s quality of life.
The Interventional Pain Service is based at the Pain/Palliative Care clinic on the first floor of the Moffitt Research Center Building. This clinic also offers other resources in the management of pain, including neurologists who specialize in medical pain management and palliative care. The Integrative Medicine service is available for complementary care including acupuncture, massage therapy, imagery and relaxation therapy.
The faculty at the Interventional Pain Service is committed to excellent patient care, ground-breaking research and world-class education. We are an active part of the Pain Medicine Fellowship based in the Department of Neurology of the University of South Florida. We hold a Multidisciplinary Pain Conference and Quality Assurance meeting every month. Our research focuses on outcome-based studies for early interventional pain therapy, including neurolytic celiac plexus block for upper GI tumors and implanted intrathecal infusions.
