Purpose of Moffitt's Ethics Committee

The ethics committee will assess educational needs specific to biomedical ethics of committee members, hospital staff and physicians, patients and family members and the hospital community. The committee will plan activities to meet assessed needs.

The committee will serve as an advisory body for administrative and professional staff on the formulation of policies and/or guidelines concerned with ethical issues in patient care.

The committee will provide a consultation team to explore ethical dilemmas in a nonjudgmental atmosphere on behalf of patient, family and health team members when situations or concerns arise.

How to request an ethics consultation:

For help with patient care ethical questions, you may contact the Ethics Committee by calling the Moffitt Cancer Center operator at 813-745-4673. The operator will page the on-call ethics committee member to speak with you.
