Moffitt Cancer Center's Pharmacy is in the forefront of innovative pharmacy practice which works with highly skilled professionals in a multidisciplinary setting. The clinical programs incorporate the needs of our oncology patients. Our staff works directly with the primary health care team, rounding with physicians, planning with nurses, coordinating with the lab, facilitating research, and providing patient and staff education.
Multidisciplinary teams have been established for many programs, including but not limited to, Bone Marrow Transplant, Malignant Hematology, Medical Oncology, Clinical Research, Nutrition Support, Infectious Disease, Code Blue response and Ambulatory Care.
Additional services include Drug Information and Pharmacokinetic Consultation. Pharmacists participate in the development, support and management of investigational/research protocols.
Current clinical services include the following:
The Department of Pharmacy is committed to supporting the Moffitt Cancer Center mission as it applies to the safe and effective use of drugs and nutritional products, and their delivery technology.
To achieve this outcome we recognize and support the concept that the Pharmacy staff is a full and equal partner in a multidisciplinary approach to patient care, education and research. We are dedicated to producing professional staff who are capable of taking responsibility for optimizing the outcome of patient therapy and assuming a leadership role in an interdisciplinary decision making arena.
Inherent in this philosophy is the concept that Pharmacy has the primary responsibility for drug information and is accountable to apply that knowledge as the “patient’s advocate” for all drug therapy, drug delivery, research and education. This responsibility requires the Pharmacy to play an active role in both original and supportive research along with educational programs designed for patients, hospital staff and the community.
