All shared resources are governed by the Scientific Leadership Council, which is comprised of the center director, associate center directors for basic science, cancer control and clinical investigations, scientific program leaders, the director of the biostatistics core and two members of the research administration staff as ex-officio members.
The cores, strategic planning related to the cores and programs, establishing new cores, and setting charges and priorities for institutional budgeting. Day-to-day operation of each core is the responsibility of the scientific director, staff coordinator, and designated staff member from research administration. The management of the operational budget for most cores is overseen by the laboratory operations manager in research administration.
In the coming months, Moffitt will be rolling out a software system to improve the efficiency and productivity of the Research environment. Labvantage’s Sapphire™ LIMS is a thin-client Laboratory Information Management Suite that is tailored to manage critical laboratory information across an organization to optimize productivity and more effectively share knowledge.
What does this mean to you? If you are a Non-Moffitt Member (i.e. affiliate) that will be requesting services from any of the Moffitt Shared Resource Core Facilities, you will need to fill out an Account Setup Information form. Once the form is received and processed, usually within 24 hours, you will be able to request services in any of the Shared Resource Core Facilities.
